I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.

The Big Pineapple is probably one of the best known Big Things on the Sunshine Coast, if the whole state. It has been around for decades and I'd say it's pretty good. There's not just the size of the thing, but the fact there's actually lots to do here. It has markets, a train ride, even a zoo. All in all, it's not just a photo opportunity, but a tourist attraction.
But what about the other Big Things on the Sunshine Coast? There are so many around. Some just offer something to look out on the side of the road, while others are definite attractions. But can any rival the Big Pineapple?
Some of the other Big Things in the area include:
Big Boot, Chermside: A single boot is located on top of Solver Paints store.
Big Cow, Nambour: Certainly one of the biggest big things, the Big Cow is five times the size of a normal cow. It used to be a much bigger deal though, with the option to go inside.
Big Strawberry, Elimbah: The strawberry is pretty good and is found at the Rolin Farms strawberry fields, where you can go for strawberry picking from June to October. There are even smaller strawberries on the way in.
Big Macadamia, Woombye: Apparently there's a Big Macadamia nut at the Big Pineapple, though I didn't notice it. It's no longer an attraction at the site these days.
Big Mower, Beerwah: One to drive past on the way to Australia Zoo, this one is definitely a sight to see, not a destination to visit. It's outside The Big Mower business.
Big Pelican, Noosaville: I didn't notice it myself, but there's a big pelican in Noosaville. It was originally built as a float for the 1977 Festival of the Waters Parade, but now has a permanent home at the Noosaville Lions Park.
So nice to see the Big Things getting some love :) I've followed them up pretty extensively, especially around the Sunshine Coast as it's my home town, if readers need a bit more information and street addresses to be able to track them more easily, you can find them on my Big Things of Oz blog, I'll link you to my QLD page but if you scroll down you'll easily see all the Sunshine Coast listing which you can click on to get more write ups :)
