There are so many beautiful waterfalls to swim and explore in the Northern NSW region and one of the greatest that should be on any wild-swimming enthusiast's lists to see should be the magical , located near Nightcap National Park .

If driving through effortlessly beautiful country landscapes to a waterfall sounds like your idea of a great day out, then tune in for this quick recap on how to get to the Conservation Area.

The drive will take you around an hour from Byron Bay and is conveniently signed for you (to those responsible for this, a sincere thank you from a girl who is geographically challenged at times).

If you have Google Maps on your smartphone, simply type in the falls name itself and it will direct you where to go along with clear signage on the country roads. Or if you're up for my own travel directions here they are; from the closest town that I know of which is Dunoon, drive along the main road out of the town known as Dunoon Road and make a turn onto Whian Whian Road in the direction of Rocky Creek Dam. You will drive over Simes bridge with Rocky Creek running underneath it and the carpark is on your left-hand side, just after the bridge.

When at the carpark, there is a clearing and track on your left-hand side, follow the fence around until you reach the lookout over the falls. Getting down to the swimming hole itself is pretty easy unless heavy rainfall has hit the region, so, therefore, take your descent steadily in order to not slip over and bruise your backside.

Wanderer Tip: Follow the creek all the way downstream and you will find multiple swimming holes for when the main falls are overrun with enthusiastic swimmers (trust me this place can get busy!).

Northern NSW is known to get the heaviest amount of rainfall of the NSW state, and as you can see from pictures, when this waterfall is flowing strong, the swimming and photo opportunities are endless. It is still a sight to see and enjoy, even though there hasn't been heavy rainfall in the area.

Be sure to pack a picnic and plenty of fluids to keep you going and be ready for a refreshing swim in these gorgeous pools. Always remember to take your rubbish with you, as there are no rubbish collection facilities at - and then more can enjoy these beautiful spots just as you will.
