Soft shell crabs are crabs that have just shed their old shells and the new shells are still soft. This means the crabs can be eaten without shelling – no mess, no need for a claw cracker to crack the claws and no digging of meat from the legs and claws. Salt & Pepper Soft Shell Crab is deep fried soft shell crabs tossed in salt and Sichuan peppercorn powder. I love the crispiness of the crab and the deliciousness of the spices. It's one of my favourite dishes and my family will always order it if it's on the menu.

The Soft Shell Crab at Fortuna Court has a slightly different batter but is still tasty and enjoyable. Due to it being one of their entrée dishes, the portion size is a bit smaller compared to the other restaurants where I tried Soft Shell Crab.

Hanuman has a twist on the Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab. Instead of tossing the deep fried soft shell crab in salt and pepper, they served it with a sweet, tangy and spicy sauce. The taste of the sauce is notably similar in taste to the sauce used in Singaporean Chilli Crab.

Little Canton at Henley Beach Road is another restaurant where we have enjoyed Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab.

Our most recent tasting of Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab is at Millets at Mawson Lakes. I'm always on the lookout for this dish so do let me know of any other restaurants that serve it.
The best place to get Soft Shell Crab is the Baan Thai Rest. at the top of Magill Rd. just down from the Tower Hotel. It is next to the Post Office which is on the corner of Pepper St. and Magill Rd. ADELAIDE.
