Fall is the perfect time of year for a picnic. The afternoons are still long but without the extreme heat and humidity. Brisbane has plenty of picturesque picnic spots to choose from.

Local parks are great for an impromptu picnic after school or work. My family is fortunate to live near two fabulous parks: C B Mott Park and Glindemann Park . Both parks have excellent barbecue facilities, ample shade, and interesting playgrounds for the kids.

Kangaroo Point Cliffs is a special spot with spectacular views; popular with couples on romantic (and inexpensive) dinner dates.

Families flock to South Bank Parklands . As well as barbecues right on the river, there's a playground, swimming lagoon, and water park.

Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens are wonderful for a weekend picnic. Take a stroll around the gardens before relaxing on a rug.

There are several pretty picnic spots along Mt Coot-tha Scenic Drive ; JC Slaughter Falls and Simpson Falls to name a couple.
