Henty Street runs through the middle of charming Casterton. This extensive shopping and entertainment district makes it way from the Glenelg River valley to the top of the hill in town. Casterton is a service centre for the region and welcomes many visitors on a country getaway, with wineries, lakes, and beaches nearby.

Casterton is known as 'The Birthplace of the Kelpie' and is famous for the Australian Kelpie Muster held on Henty Street and Island Park. The Casterton Distilling Co. is a popular new venue in the town, and in the words of the Owner, Jason Pope: "we just celebrated our second birthday ... and it's a great time to sample our five core gins and hear more about our story".

The master distiller is a talented local Nick, a man with "a rich background in brewing, viticulture and distilling, and a great set of engineering skills to build the stills". The distillery hold Master Classes where you can create your own unique gin, and enjoy a grazing lunch with a gin cocktail. You can book your next class here .

Glenelg Inn Casterton and Motel

The Glenelg Inn is also a well-known establishment in Casterton, and offers an inviting pub experience and reasonably priced accommodation. The venue also has a pool table, beer garden, live music, and outdoor seating.

GETTING TO CASTERTON

Casterton is four hours drive from Melbourne.
