The Totally Locally Blackwood team have negotiated hard with the North Pole, and as a result, Santa has agreed to stay in Blackwood after the
Blackwood Christmas Pageant !
"It took a bit of sweet talking as he's pretty busy this time of the year, but our local gnomes had a word with Santa's elves who put in a good word for us," says Heather Homes-Ross who is heading up
Blackwood's Totally Locally group.
Throughout December, Santa will be found roaming the Blackwood shopping precincts spreading some Christmas cheer on:
Thursday evenings and during the day on Saturday and Sundays.
He will also be available for special photos during the day, drop-in or by appointment, at
Deb Smith photography , Shop 5, 7-9 Young St, Blackwood (inside Travis Hairdressers) on Thursday 17 December and Friday 18 December.
"We hope Father Christmas will help to bring people into Blackwood and encourage them to support their local businesses this Christmas," says Heather. "Many businesses and traders have extended hours over the Christmas period to help people over the festive season, and many food traders are taking orders for Christmas so all you have to do is pick up your produce. We have a huge variety of shops in Blackwood, but if you're still not sure what to get for someone, many local businesses and services have gift cards too."
You'll also be able to see Totally Locally at this year's Pageant – where there's another treat in store. "Totally Locally members have donated goods and services for a bumper-sized hamper for a Christmas draw. Come along to the Totally Locally stand in Waite Street at the Christmas Pageant to check out the goodies donated from local fruit and veg, meat, clothing, homeware and gifts, health and wellbeing, hair dressers and cafes and other traders," says Heather.
The draw will take place on Christmas Eve.
