If you want to add a fresh-cut Christmas tree to your celebration this year, the good news is that Canberra has not one but two Christmas tree farms! Making the trip to choose your own tree, bring it home and decorate it with the smell of pine filling the house is the kind of magical experience that makes Christmas memories lasting a lifetime. If you want to add some of the fun to your family's festive season this year, here's what you need to know.
Santa's Shaped Christmas Tree Farm, Gundaroo
Santa's Shaped Christmas Tree Farm have been supplying Christmas trees to Canberrans for 17 years so they know a thing or two about growing a nice tree. Located in Gundaroo, around half an hour from Canberra, you can visit the farm and choose your very own tree. If you don't fancy your woodchopping skills fear not - the tricky bit of cutting is done for you. Your only job is to find the perfect tree. When you visit, especially on weekends, be ready to contend with a bit of traffic and a short wait. Come prepared with a hat and water because it can get quite hot. Prices range from $70 for a tree 7 feet or less thAn go up by $15 per extra foot.
Santa's Shaped Christmas Tree Farm is open 7 days, 8am – 6pm from the 21st November 2020 right through until Christmas Eve.
Established in 2016, Wallaroo Road Bespoke Christmas Trees are located just outside of Hall, a short drive from Canberra. No matter what size or shape tree you have in mind, they specialise in bespoke trees and have something for everyone from the perky to the quirky and everything in between. To enjoy the experience of choosing your own Christmas tree, head to Wallaroo Road then all you need to do is choose your perfect tree and the Christmas tree cutters will do the hard part of cutting it while you watch. Prices range from $60 - $90.
Wallaroo Road Bespoke Christmas Trees are open every Thursday tilL Sunday from the 13th of December between 3pm – 7pm or by appointment.
