Under the Misletoe
The Christmas joy that oozes out of Under the Mistletoe is hard to resist and it is THE place to check out if you are looking to decorate your tree or your entire home in truly yuletide style. With an absolutely huge selection of trees and decorations covering every Christmas theme imaginable, the shop was recently expanded just in time for the silly season. The store itself showcases trees, lights, baubles, florals, figurines, glitter lanterns, elves, Santas, stockings, tree skirts, bonbons, jewellery, ties, candles centrepieces and, if you can believe it, much more…and they promise that if they don't have what you want, they'll help you to find it! Browsing the store provides plenty of inspiration to get your inner-elf ready to decorate your own home in time for Santa's visit.
A short drive to Gundaroo will get you Santa's Shaped Christmas Tree Farm where you can trawl the paddocks for the perfect tree. Opening from late November, you can find trees of all shapes and sizes and once you pick your perfect pine, the good folks at the farm will do the hard work and chop it for you. The tree will be taken back to the shed and bagged up to minimise any damage on the trip home. Trees under 7 foot are $70, trees over 7 foot cost extra. And if you don't want to head to the farm, their trees will also be available at The Capital Region Farmer's Market, the Southside Farmer's Market, Haig Park Village Markets and the Belconnen Fresh Food Market. Check out the website for market dates and availability.
The Bredbo Christmas Barn
A little further afield but well worth the drive, the Bredbo Christmas Barn is a true destination shopping experience. If you crank up the carols, the car ride will pass by in a flash and once you get there, you'll be transported into a Christmas paradise full of sparkles, lights, decorations and amazing displays. The Bredbo Christmas Barn's motto is 'Too much is never enough' and when you step inside, that will make perfect sense! You won't be able to resist getting into the Christmas Spirit here even if you're the biggest grinch there is. The store is a feast for the senses with Christmas music playing, candles smelling like orange, cloves and pine scenting the air, a forest of decorated Christmas trees that are absolutely bedazzling and a cosy atmosphere to soak up. If you love Christmas, plan a visit ASAP - you'll thank yourself later!
