The Lunar New Year is fast approaching bringing with it a change of pace from the roaring tiger to the more mellow and tranquil rabbit. The Year of the Rabbit in 2023 is likely to be a little more gentle and relaxed and might present the opportunity for travel. But you don't need to travel far to celebrate in Canberra with plenty of events scheduled for the Lunar New Year.

Dickson Lunar New Year

Dickson, known as Canberra's Chinatown, will be bringing in the Lunar New Year with a bang over two big weekends in 2023.

The festivities will include community group performers, a lion dance, roving artists and the big reveal of a Zodiac Rabbit sculpture. You can party in the Lunar New Year with food and stalls from local businesses, decorations, and an outdoor stage hosting performances throughout the festival.

Dates for the Dickson Lunar New Year event are from 13 to 21 January 2023. Check the website for program details
