USA candies used to be a great, inexpensive souvenir for friends and colleagues following a trip to the USA, but nowadays these sweets are popping up everywhere around Sydney though at an inflated price. One of the great things about the Americans is their obsession with peanut butter and putting it in nearly every type of chocolate on the market. There are peanut butter M&M's, Kit Kats, Snickers and Twix as well as the many variations of the Reece's Peanut Butter Cups creations.

But it is not just limited to peanut butter flavours. Other uniquely American candies include Hershey varieties, Junior Mints, more M&M's varieties like Pretzel and Almond as well as dessert-flavoured chewing gums. As these candies are not produced on Australian shores they are imported from the USA, making them quite expensive and often only available at specialty stores. Here are the best places to get your peanut butter and candy fixes around Sydney.

[SECTION]Orange Supermarket - Broadway [/SECTION]
Orange Supermarket on the corner of Grafton Lane and Shepherd Street, just off Broadway and next to the Broadway Lounge hotel, sells USA candies at the same rate you would buy our locally produced candy or chocolates. They sell all the peanut butter varieties of chocolates – M&Ms, Snickers and Twix; as well as Junior Mints, other M&M's varieties, Hershey bars and the dessert flavoured chewing gums. Small packets of M&M's sell for $1.83 and the larger 144gram packets for under $5.00. The other chocolate bar varieties, such as Snickers, Milky Ways and Hershey's all sell for just $2.00. This is probably the cheapest option in Sydney.

[SECTION]City Convenience Stores – Around Sydney[/SECTION]
The City Convenience Store chain now sells most types of USA candies. While they have most sizes and varieties, you will pay a premium price for these candies. A small packet of peanut butter M&M's is $2.95 and the bigger 144gram packet is $5.95, with all the other bar varieties ranging from between $3.00 and $4.00. One major selling point for these stores is their locations; since they are basically everywhere in the CBD, you could say they are the Pie Face of corner stores. No matter where you are in the city, you are rarely ever more than a 5-10 minute walk from one of their stores.

[SECTION]Tobacconist - Hunter Connection Arcade[/SECTION]
There is a small tobacconist in the Hunter Connection Arcade, just between George Street and Pitt Street at Wynard Station, which stocks almost every type of American candy. While their prices for M&M's varieties are higher than City Convenience Stores at $3.50 for a small packet, they do sell other Reece's varieties and Hershey bars at just $2.20. They don't stock any of the bigger packets but they do have a large range of every type of Reece's varieties. An added selling point for this store is they also stock a few old one-and-two-cent lolly favourites.

[SECTION]Sugar Fix - Alexandria[/SECTION]
Sugar Fix has a large wholesale outlet store in Botany Road at Alexandria that again stocks almost every type of candy you could desire. Their website boasts a new store at The Galeries mall in the CBD, but whether it has already opened and reclosed or whether it is yet to open, there is not currently another store in the city. Their prices vary between $2.00 and $3.00 for chocolate bars and around $2.50 for smaller packets of M&M's. Sugar Fix do stock massive 1.4kg bags of peanut butter M&M's but you will pay $45.00 for this Goliath that trades for a mere $8.00USD in the USA at grocery stores like Wal-Mart. If you cannot make it out to Alexandria, they do have a very good online store though you are looking at around $9.00 freight as a starting cost.

[SECTION]Tasty Treat – Warringah Mall[/SECTION]
Tasty Treat candy stand at Westfield's Warringah Mall stocks not only every variety of candy from the USA but also British and European varieties. Here again you will pay a premium price because their merchandise is imported and it is a speciality store at a premium location, but they have everything you can imagine. They also stock the extremely gluttonous 1.4kg bags of peanut butter M&M's for around the same price as Sugar Fix.
