Go potty for plants
I often wander Yandina markets on Saturdays to buy my weekly supply of fruit and vegetables and it never ceases to amaze me just how many different plants are available there each week. Most major weekend markets sell plants, but at Yandina you are literally spoilt for choice. The prices, in my opinion, are also the cheapest on the Coast. It definitely makes a difference buying direct from the grower and cutting out the middle man.
On a recent visit, I spotted some gorgeous Kangaroo Paw plants. There were 3 or 4 varieties to choose from. Later on I noticed some amazing heliconia plants and an extremely tall one that I have not seen before called "Hot Rio Nights." Bromeliads are another popular choice and there were many beautiful varieties available. High quality Anthuriums were also in abundance and make a delightful indoor plant. A good variety of ornamental gingers were also plentiful.
With spring approaching, it is the ideal time to get back into gardening. From tiny seedlings to advanced plants including herbs, succulents, rainforest plants, fruit trees, flowering rockery plants, native plants, orchids - you name it - they are all there waiting for you at Yandina markets.
The quality, variety, and low prices of plants at Yandina Markets makes it my number one place to shop for plants on the Sunshine Coast. If you are looking to buy more than just plants, check out the rest of my top ten places below and don't forget to add your favourite place in the comments.
