With a lot of discussion about the revival of the popularity of Melbourne Street with the opening of the upgraded Adelaide Oval it is high time to give some serious consideration to the question of the best place for coffee in one of Adelaide's favourite streets.

My favourite is The First Pour at 111 Melbourne Street. Recently voted #7 coffee venue in Adelaide it has a fantastic atmosphere, staff that know and create the perfect coffee every time and healthy, tasty food options. Their sugar free gluten free cake selection is wonderful. Lunch options include baguettes, wraps, sandwiches and focaccia. Their house blend coffee won them a gold medal at best espresso in Australia. This medal won over 400 other blends. Seating is plentiful and the staff are fantastic and certainly know their coffee. Your latte will come with its very own unique art work, will be the perfect temperature and taste great. Open 8 - 5. Ph 82671278

UR Caffe at 119 Melbourne Street is also a great option and do great take away cappuccino. I read this was the case in a review I read and tried it for myself!! They also do blends that keep people coming back and both coffee and food is well priced. Ph 82673553

The Store Cafe Restaurant at 157 Melbourne Street get a lot of compliments for their long blacks. The breakfasts are magnificent here with coffee to match. Open from 7am until late. Ph 83616999 Don't miss The Store if you are a real breakfast person.

Cibo Espresso the franchise might be the most consistent Italian dark roasted style coffee maker.. maybe in Adelaide if you agree with some of the reviews. As always great for grabbing a quick coffee on the run.

Caffeteca does a great double shot Piccolo. Their food extends to salads, flat bread and cake and their food serving includes breakfast and lunch. They use locally sourced beans and have received some great reviews, especially for the coffee.

Cikolatte at 113 Melbourne Street serve coffee by Kiko and specialise in coffee, chocolate, tea and speciality sweets. The place to go if you are a coffee lover and sweet tooth. Ph 82676648.

Bocca Espresso Bar at 154 Melbourne Street serve Italian food and apparently do great La Creme coffee. They are open all day 7 days a week starting at 7.30am until late. Ph 82391488

Coffee churns up the strongest of feelings and preferences in the combination of coffee, atmosphere, location and food is a very personal thing. My favourite is The First Pour.....what is your best coffee spot, coffee maker or barrista team on Melbourne Street?
