Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (CPAC) has unveiled its latest exhibition
Where Shadows Meet which will run from
30 July - 16 October 2022. Showcased in the
Hopper Gallery, the exhibition features artists who embrace the physical and metaphoric spaces in-between light and darkness and use it as a tool for their art making. CPAC Director Craig Donarski has said '
Darkness, light and the shadows between may seem like simple, everyday things that we don't often pause to think about, but they can also carry great symbolic and metaphorical meaning, which is exactly what these artists have brought to Where Shadows Meet'
Take the opportunity to experience this exciting space in-between light and darkness. In life we often find ourselves squinting in the dark, trying to make out and understand what is happening around us. We can totally identify with that. The artworks featured as part of the exhibit show that the process of illumination can be fascinatingly creative and abstract. Obscuring the real world and tricking the eye, even for just a moment, gives rise to a myriad of realities that are spectacular, evocative, and captivating to experience.
The exhibition features artworks in a range of art forms, including photography, light, performance, and installation, by six contemporary artists based in Sydney: Maddison Gibbs, Eunjoo Jang, Shan Turner-Carroll, Meng-Yu Yan, Zan Wimberley and Tianli Zu.
