NSW offers a wide range of holiday experiences so you can choose a different destination to suit your mood. Whether you want to get amongst nature, relax on a beach somewhere or indulge in some fresh produce and top-class wine, there's somewhere close to Sydney that'll give you the ideal weekend away.
The scenic south coast is also home to a number of popular weekend escapes. Gerringong and Jervis Bay offer pristine beaches, while the area has plenty of great roads if you're keen for a scenic drive.
Moving away from the coast to the Southern Highlands, towns like Kangaroo Valley and Bowral are perfect if you want to relax in some beautiful countryside.
Last but not least, there's also plenty of fun to be had by heading north. Visit the Entrance or Terrigal on the Central Coast, travel further north to beautiful Nelson Bay, or eat and drink your way through a weekend in the gorgeous Hunter Valley.
Is one of these locations your favourite spot for a weekend getaway? Or is your favourite weekend escape something not mentioned here?

Berry! It is so beautiful there with the lovely country side, so you feel as though you're a million miles away from the city. And it has all sorts of lovely little delis and boutique shops, and a nice-looking pub. And of course it has the Treat Factory, which is definitely my favourite part of the town.

My family has been going to Port Stephens since I was a little kid and every time we went it was absolutely awesome. So relaxing but with so many different walks, beaches, rock pools and nice places to eat. Not too far away and always has plenty to offer.

Southern highlands in the autumn - very pretty, just beautiful countryside when you take a drive from bowral to fitzroy falls on nowra rd. Stayed at links house in bowral. Great little mini break.

I think Newcastle is pretty under-rated. Great beaches, a relaxed vibe and not the ugly steel city it used to be.

Anywhere north of Newcastle! I know it's getting a bit further away but there are so many places like Forster, Lake Cathie, Evans Head... all the way up the coast

Just spent a weekend in Broke in the Hunter Valley - quiet, close to boutique wineries and away from the crowds. Was perfect!
I love the Blue Mountains, the stars are so beautiful there I actually get dizzy. Hopefully, one day, Iíll go on a romantic weekend escape there. The Jenolan caves arenít exactly romantic, but great with friends or family.
