The other week, my internet was down and as I had a number of work deadlines looming, I quickly set about trying to find out where I could find some free WiFi so that I could still log on and get some tasks done. I soon discovered that there are a great number of places where you can log on, and best of all, the coverage was really not too shabby. Have you a great free WiFi hotspot near you? Where have you found really reliable free WIFI? Here's my pick of the bunch:
Perth CBD
Perth is the first city within Australia to offer free blanket coverage WiFi across it's CBD areas. To access, simply log into the 'Perth WiFi' network and you can roam to your heart's desire. To find out about where this coverage extends to, here's a

Libraries
Many local libraries now offer free WiFi, with most also providing free computer use for its library members. At my local library I was able to log on for a 2 hour time period, but if I wanted to keep going after this time allocation, I could simply go through the logging in process again. If you're seeking a computer terminal, as a guide, try booking ahead; these did seem particularly busy. If you're in the Perth City Library,
here are the details for logging in.
McDonalds
McDonald's are rolling out free WiFi to 710 of its restaurants within Australia, which when completed will make McDonald's the largest provider of free internet down under. To find out if your local McDonald's restaurant is covered, check

Shopping Centres
Many of the larger shopping centres now offer free WiFi whilst you are getting your retail fix. Ask at the concierge or information desk for details. Here are details of how to log on to free WiFi at
Westfield Garden City ,
Lakeside Shopping Centre and
Rockingham Shopping Centre .
Coffee Shops
Lots of the chain coffee shops have cottoned on to the fact that many people like to browse the net whilst they're enjoying a cup of the hot stuff, and to this end, are now providing free WiFi to their patrons. Often you need to request a code, and from experience, coverage can be a bit hit and miss, but if you're in need of some free internet, it can serve a purpose. Coffee shops that often offer free WiFi include San Churro, Dome and Caffissmo.
