If like me, you are sick of seeing a film in the normal blackened theatre, why not try one of the following, more appealing, cinema stop-ins.

Ben and Jerry's Open Air Cinema
Every year in Spring, Brisbane hosts the Ben and Jerry's Open Air Cinema in Southbank Parklands. I've taken in a flick with a cup of the delicious creamy ice cream the last two years, and I plan on making this a yearly tradition with my man, and you should too!

When booking, you have a number of ticket options for various extras including blankets, beanbags and deck chairs. Previously we spoiled ourselves byenjoying a snuggle on the fancy beanbags, but most recently we chose the budget option and packed our own picnic blankets and pillows.

All tickets include a delicious sample of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, which is by far the best ice cream on the planet (and the main reason I was attracted to this event). Of course they do offer big tubs of its creamy delights, alongside a delicious menu of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as yummy pizza.

Cuddles, ice cream and a movie... how can you go wrong?

Yatala Drive In
My partner and I often enjoy a movie at the YatalaDrive In and we have now perfected our routine; one I am willing to share with the lovely Weekend Notes readers.

First, before you leave home, pack the car, as it is very annoying to perfectly sculpt a bed from doonas and pillows in the dark. Ensure you have enough squishy material under your body to make the hard car boot surface comfy and nice blanket to snuggle under that is weather appropriate (even in winter we find that all the snuggling we do creates a body warmth that only requires a light sheet on top).

Next up, pull into Yatala Pies and grab yourself a yummy meat pie. Or, if you perfer, you can skip dinner altogether and go straight to a delicious warm berry pie to munch on. Yum!

Make sure you arrive early as Yatala Drive In is not a best-kept secret, and it will be packed! If you want to get a prime viewing location you need to arrive early. We found that even arriving 30mins eearly means we only find a spot in the back couple rows.

If you follow these steps you will be just finishing of your meal as the lights go down, the screen lights up and the movie begins! Luckily the ads give you enough time to sneak to the 1950's themed shop and grab some popcorn.

Gold Class
For just over $80 you and your loved one can cuddle up in gigantic reclining chairs for a romantic and classy evening. Gold Class is for those couples celebrating something big and wanting to splash out on a wicked experience. Each cinema is significantly smaller than most so guests are a part of a wonderfully intimate cinema moment.

Arrive early to your session, grab yourselves a wine and begin browsing their scrumptious menu. Gold Class does have one theme running through its food so if you want an Australian platter and your cinema buddy wants Vietnamese spring rolls, Mexican nachos or Italian pizza it is all well within your grasp. The food and drinks are bought out to you in two waves; one for dinner and of course, much later on, for dessert. Just be careful, because I once ordered a GIANT dessert and then couldn't see the screen anymore. #Goldclassproblems.

Even the screen being blocked by chocolaty delight couldn't stop me from laying back and enjoying a special night sipping bubbly and taking in the newest Jennifer Laurence blockbuster.

Blue Room Cinebar
The Blue Room Cinebar is similar to Gold Class, however it costs significantly less, so is great for those on a budget. My partner and I recently celebrated our engagement there. After spending all that money on a ring, it was really lovely to find a budget friendly and romantic night out.

Upon arrival, you grab your tickets and a menu and line up to order your meal that will be delivered as soon as it is ready throughout the movie. This is great because between our cokes, ciders, salad, calamari and dessert platter we were never left in the dark without something to nibble on.

Make sure you pack a blanket for your night out however, as not only does being curled up under a blanket make the night seem cozier and more relaxed, it can be very cold with the air-conditioning turned down so low.

So it's up to you now, which one are you going to choose for your next movie night?
