It is a popular tourist destination, due to its beautiful beaches, abundant seafood, busy cafes and family friendly entertainment along the waterfront (which is located at
the entrance to Tuggerah Lake - hence its name). Each weekend you will find the main café strip bustling with people out enjoying the weather and food, with kids also loving the Ferris Wheel,
water park ,
carousel ,
pelican feeding and family activities.
As we all know, the best way to find the best eateries in town is to follow the locals. These venues below were recommended to us by a Central Coast local - do you agree? Where is your favourite eatery at The Entrance? Please leave a comment at the top of this article and share your top picks. When they look this good, you may have to go back twice!
BAKERY
Ken's Humble Pie Shop is a popular with local workers, tradies, families and just about everyone! They have been voted as having the Best Pie on the Central Coast due to their flaky pastry, fresh ingredients, generous size and range of flavours. The pies are reason enough to go and try this popular bakery, however it's their mouth-watering profiteroles that have the locals going back for more! See
here for details.
CAFE
Nidavellir is a reasonably new cafe on the strip, which opened in April, 2019. It can be found just near the children's playground at Memorial Park. If you like gaming and pop culture, it has an eclectic assortment of toys and memorabilia from the Marvel franchise, located on various shelves around the café. This cafe is always busy, with diners happily sitting and enjoying their meals inside or outside the small, bustling café. At the time of writing this café is a bit of a mystery, with no website for Facebook, however you can follow them on Instagram @ nidavellir_au.
PUB
The Entrance Hotel can be found further down the waterfront, walking towards The Entrance Bridge. This venue was another local tip and we were more than impressed! It had a spacious beer garden, modern décor, delicious food and a relaxed ambience - it would have been easy to stay there all afternoon. If you have children, the kid's meals were excellent, with an activity book and ice-cream included in the price. There was also an over-sized Jenga game to play with in the beer garden, much to our daughter's delight! Just outside there is also a historic carousel that all children will enjoy. See
here for details and

The Entrance has so many cafes, restaurants, takeaway shops and pubs, that everyone will find their own favourite(s). Which do you love the most? If you have any more to add to this list, please leave a comment at the top of this article and share your favourite.
Why not take a day trip to The Entrance this weekend? It is the ideal family destination, with activities along the waterfront that your kids will love. It is the perfect excuse to go there for the kids...but also take home a sneaky profiterole for you too!
Enjoy!
