Tea with the little tikes?
Any parent knows how hard it can be to take the kids out for a coffee or casual lunch with friends. But if you know where to go, Perth has a number of great places to take the little ones for a play while you sit back and take a moment to relax.

While parks and playgrounds are a great place to take the kids to burn off some energy, wet and stormy weather can make the outdoors much less appealing. A great spot to hang out when the rain is pouring is Sienas in Leederville. The restaurant itself is not too pricey for a meal or you can just order a coffee, while the kids can enjoy themselves in the in-built playroom, complete with play equipment and room to run about. Our favourite table is against the glass window looking in to the playroom so we can keep an eye on all the action.

Whitfords Shopping Centre has a great indoor playground for 2-5 year olds near the Optus store, so this a convenient place to catch up with friends, especially if you plan to grab some groceries on your way home.

For a Friday afternoon drink, Salt on the Beach in North Fremantle has it's own fenced playground, and on Friday nights, the staff also put out a range of kids activities including art and crafts so your little ones can explore their creative side while you unwind. Kids can also meet Salty the Dolphin and Peppa the Penguin on Fridays and Sundays.

A great organisation to sign up with is Cater 4 Kids. This business organises a range of kids activities at restaurants around Perth so that their parents can enjoy a quiet meal. Face painting, puzzles, and story-telling are just a few of the activities organised by the group. You can check their website for details on where they are during the week or subscribe to their newsletter for all of the planned activity.

These are just a few tips I have picked up along the way, I'm sure there are many more places to go and I look forward to hearing about them. If you know of a little gem, please tell us about it in the comments box and maybe we'll see you there soon.

Another place which is good for an early moring or later afternoon coffe with the kids is GREENS in leederville, it has couches, connect 4 games for the kids, old table pac man and galliga games, pool table. It's a good place to kill an hour, then walk across the road to the playground
