I must admit I am a relatively recent convert to the humble scone, but once I tasted my first one lavished with jam and cream (is there really any other way to enjoy a scone?) I was certainly hooked.

Tea and Scones
Mmm scones...

I had been aware of scones from a young age as my mother's Pumpkin Scones were much talked about among my relatives, but I am ashamed to say it wasn't until my early 20's that I had my first scone and I have never looked back since.

While I am yet to attempt to make my own for fear of the heartbreak of pulling a tray of scone-shaped bricks out of the oven, I am definitely not averse to scoffing down more than my fair share with a nice cup of tea. And now I need your help to find Sydney's best wherever they may be hiding.

Some of the best scones I've had to date were from the Yarramalong Manor. Yarramalong Manor is in the Yarramalong Valley, a wonderfully scenic drive north of Sydney. They are open 7 days a week and do lovely Devonshire Teas where the scones are deliciously fluffy and you may be lucky enough to score yourself one fresh out of the oven.

I've also had some very satisfying plain and fruit scones as part of the Wentworth Afternoon Tea @ Sofitel which definitely hit the spot. And the scones that graced my plate during the High Tea @ the Victoria Room, where they were served with organic Strawberry jam and Chantilly cream, were positively delightful.

But the big question is, are these the best? The search is on for Sydney's best scones and I want to know if you've come across any tasty morsels that are worth feasting upon. And I am certainly willing to travel to fill my tum with these bundles of joy so let us know if you've had some yummy scones a hop, skip and a jump from Sydney.

If you find yourself in Leura in the Blue Mountains, you should head to Wayzgoose Cafe for their famous flowerpot scones. Baked in terracotta pots, the scones come with a hefty helping of jam and cream and are absolutely delicious.

You should totally try "The Tea Cosy" in the rocks, it's only open on weekends, but have great scones. I think it's number 30 George street or something.

Megalong Valley Tea Rooms have the most scrumptious scones. The blackberry jam is tangy, the cream real and the servings generous . And a little tip. Carefully cut the tall scones into three instead of two and you might actually manage to finish the cream and jam.
