Yes, I know that there is practically a 'Big Wheel' in every major city around the world and it's become a little cliché to take this tourist attraction. However, is there really a better way to see a city?
The 'Big Wheel' in Brisbane is situated on Brisbane' South Bank; some 3 minutes walk from the ferry terminal and 5 minutes walk from the car parking and nearby train station. It offers a 360 degree observation platform that rises to 60 metres at its maximum. Your ride will take place in a fully air-conditioned gondola. The attendants were really friendly and tried to have one family/friendship group per gondola, however the management does reserve the right to mix groupings in each gondola at peak-times. The ride consists of four rotations of the wheel. There is a running audio commentary of the sights of Brisbane visible as you ride on the wheel.
The 'Wheel of Brisbane' located in Parklands on the river.
Should you wish for more comfort than the standard gondola, then try the VIP gondola. It offers an extended ride duration, leather seats, tinted windows and a choice of either the standard audio commentary or personally selected music. This VIP gondola seats up to four persons.
Excellent views of Brisbane from The Brisbane Wheel.
Prior to embarking on the wheel - one can have a souvenir photograph taken as a memory of your ride. The pictures are processed during your ride and can be collected and paid for from the ticket booth at the end of the ride.
