What's on at Queen Victoria Market - Autumn/Winter 2021
QVM (Queen Victoria Market - Rear of 513 Elizabeth St, Melb) is a vibrant market place everyone flocks to, especially on the weekends. There's always something going on apart from shopping, to look forward to throughout the year. There's the
Melbourne Book Market that runs
every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm at
L Shed (Peel Street end) that's every book lovers delight. It's a curated collection of more than 5000 new and pre-loved titles selected and presented by some of Melbourne's most experienced booksellers as well as authors, illustrators and book creators.
QVM is kicking the 1st of May off with a
Vegan Market on
Saturday 1 May 2021 from 9am to 4pm,
rear of K Shed. Come and check out why the plant-based movement is one of the fastest-growing in the world. You'll find an eclectic mix of stalls including food, fashion, art, craft, education and more, and it's the first monthly vegan market established in Melbourne. Stay up to date with news on the
Vegan Market of Melbourne's Facebook page .
You could probably follow your nose for the upcoming
Durian Festival on the weekend of
Sat & Sun 15 & 16 May 2021 from 9am to 4pm at
Sheds K and L. Often referred to as the King of Fruit, though it may smell to some, more like a pauper, explore the tantalising food stalls celebrating all things Durian. There'll be dancing and entertainment and wander through the stalls. If you've never tried Durian, give it a go. A good
Durian is sweet and creamy on the inside and definitely fits the adage of not judging a book by its cover.
Next up is the
Turkish Pazar - Tastes of Turkey on the weekend of
Sat & Sun 22 & 23 May 2021 from 10am to 4pm at
Sheds K & L as well. It's your chance to travel to Turkey while you're unable to at the moment. Recreating the street bazaars of Turkey, taste a delicious array of Turkish street food, including the familiar gözleme and döner kebabs, as well as delicious vegan and vegetarian snacks, sweets and Turkish coffee. New additions to the menu will include mant&
#305 ;, known as Turkish ravioli. You'll also find Turkish arts and handicrafts with demonstrations of ebru, and the delicate art of paper marbling. Roving performers and artists will provide entertainment with the colourful
Australian Ottoman Mehter Band performing on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in the background, the
QVM's Mini Market Series continues to run.
