Welcome to the local's guide to the best of what's on in and around Adelaide for families this November! Daylight savings is well and truly in full swing and all our fave summer venues come to life.

The Christmas season is heralded by pageants all over town and of course, there are heaps of markets, food festivals and once a year events to keep weekend explorers on the go all November.

The Salisbury Food and Cultural Festival is a great way to kick off the month on the 2nd of November on John Street, right in the heart of Salisbury. The list of food vendors is long and includes Bickford's Iced Coffee, Signor Arrosticini Italian street food, fairy floss, waffles, a BBQ and much much more. There'll be plenty of performances by local community groups so head on down to John Street from 11 am – 4 pm Saturday 2nd November. Get all the latest here .

The National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant will fill city streets from 9.30 am – 11.30 am on Saturday the 9th of November. This pageant is the largest Christmas Parade on earth. It first ran in 1933 and now brings Adelaide families flocking to line the city streets to welcome Santa to town. Want more information? Click here .

If you live down south then this one is for you. Food truck Carnivale is on the move and heading to a new spot on Commercial and Seaford Roads and will be held across the weekend of 8th -10th November. This free entry food festival will feature over fifteen food trucks, live music, licensed bar, carnival rides and more! Check it out here!

Bring the family to Victoria Square to enjoy the best of SA's multicultural riches at the Multi-cultural Festival on Sunday 10 November from 11am to 5pm. There'll be more than 75 community groups presenting from nearly 50 cultures, there'll be something to taste, experience and enjoy for everyone! The event is suitable for all ages and is free. Details here .

Air shows are always exciting but when the RAAF does it, they do it best. The RAAF Edinburgh Air Show will be held at Edinburgh Air Force Base, on the northern outskirts of Adelaide over the weekend of the 9th and 10th. Plenty of static displays of aircraft old and new will sit alongside four hours of flying displays each day including the latest stealth fighter jet, the F-35. Your tickets include free public transport to and from the show from selected locations. Get tickets and check the program here.

Port Adelaide gets its own Christmas pageant when the Twilight Xmas Parade and Party heads down Commercial Road from 6pm on the 14th of November. It's become an important family celebration for western suburban families and this free event attracts over 15,000 people every year. The parade is followed by a street party in the shadow of the iconic Port Adelaide Lighthouse. There'll be bands, community groups, amusement rides, workshops, food trucks and heaps of activities for the whole family. Don't forget to visit Santa! The party ends with a spectacular fireworks display above the Port River. You can read more about this event here.

Porchland is a relatively recent festival that welcomes the whole family for a cool afternoon of grooving and grazing. Bring the kids, and the dogs! It's a kicked back festival where they build a porch to basically hold a massive porch session with a line-up of indie, hip hop, African, jazz, and folk music artists from all over Australia on the 23rd of November in the dreamy southern Vales. There'll be awesome food, comfortable and magical surroundings (bring a picnic rug if you like) and markets brimming with artisan handmade wares.
Held in beautiful pine tree lined space overlooking the vales of The Range, Porchland is just ten minutes from McLaren Vale. Parking is available nearby but if you don't feel like driving there'll also be shuttle bus services available. Check all the details and buy tickets here .

The fun for families continues by the seaside when the Semaphore Street Fair on the 24th of November takes over Semaphore Road with al-fresco food, market style stalls entertainment from both roving performers and on stage with live music and DJ's. There'll be pop up bars for the adults and heaps of activities for the kids! Get all the details here .

The Mawson Centre Xmas Market on the 24th of November will showcase the best of Mawson Lakes in a community market with more than 80 stalls, including gifts, clothes and toys, skincare, jewellery, woodwork and heaps of food and drink. There'll also be plenty of local performers to bring a festive family vibe to the heart of Mawson Lakes. Details here.

It will be on Saturday 30 November 2019 from 9.00am to 9.00pm at Civic Park Modbury. Explore a wide variety of Thai food and drinks including local and Singha beer. There'll be some excellent shows like traditional Thai costume competitions, Thai boxing, traditional Thai dance, cooking demo's and much more. Following on from a bit of a Halloween theme you can take a walk along the River Torrens and see if you can spot all the informative bat shaped signs along the Adelaide Bat Trail all month long, download an activity sheet, or pick one up with a coffee from Lounders Boatshed and Café . You've never seen bats like this in Adelaide before!
