Mad March is upon us, Adelaide! Our favourite event season is about to get busy! To help you find some of the best big (and small) events happening around town, here's the latest 'What's on in Adelaide' list. There are all sorts of events going on in Adelaide this March so let us know if you have a favourite or know of something special in the comments!
Superloop Adelaide 500. 28th Feb 3rd March Victoria Park - City
The Superloop Adelaide 500 is Australia's biggest motorsport event. Held over four days, there's plenty to see and do both on and off the track, not to mention the line-up of after race concerts. Get the details here.
A Day on the Cans. Saturday 30th March Pirate Life Brewery Port Adelaide
Featuring a line-up of national and local musicians and live street art curated by the legendary Vans the Omega, the inaugural A Day on the Cans Festival is set to be held at the brand spanking new Pirate Life Brewery in Port Adelaide. Check it out here! Tickets $85
. Gathered Design Market. 30th and 31st March Queens Theatre City
A beautiful collection of artisan and handmade crafts, home dιcor, fashon, flowers, candles and art awaits at this popular family friendly market in the heart of the city. Supported by an eclectic range of fine food and beverages, if you only got to one market this season, this is the Autumn market worth visiting. Entry is just $2 and kids under 10 are free! Twilight Markets at 88 O'Connell. Saturday March 16th 88 O'Connell Street, North Adelaide
This three-day event offers a vast program where you can experience and explore the regions, enjoy complimentary tastings, chat to the makers, and immerse yourself in an intimate behind-the-scenes culinary experience. Held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, which is right next door, this makes a perfect weekend activity experiencing our great South Australian wines. Cellar Door Fest is open from 5pm - 9pm on Friday 15 March and 11am - 6pm on both Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March. Get the details here.
Adelaide Fringe Festival. 15th Feb 18th March

The first Adelaide Fringe Festival occurred 57 years ago and has grown to become the largest arts festival within the Southern Hemisphere! Venues around South Australia big and small, pop-up and permanent house thousands of artists from all over Adelaide, Australia and the world. There's a show for everyone including free events, comedy acts, acrobatic shows, musicals and so much more! Details here.
Some of the other excellent Fringe venues are scattered around the city and the hills. Look out for Gluttony, The Garden Of Unearthly Delights, The Riverbank Palais, Port Noarlunga Fringe Fridays, and the Stirling Fringe to name a few.
Adelaide Festival is an internationally renowned multi-arts festival that has been running for over 55 years and 2019 features no less than 10 world premieres.
AF events are held all over the city but don't miss the opening night FREE family concert in Elder Park on Saturday evening. National Geographic's Symphony for Our World is two breathtaking hours of synchronised film, live orchestral music and chorus that will offer Adelaide a journey through some of the world's most extraordinary wildlife spectacles. Adelaide Writer's Week. 2nd - 7th March Adelaide Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden
Adelaide Writers' Week is Australia's largest free literary festival, offering both writers and readers a unique opportunity to spend time sharing ideas and literary explorations in a garden setting in Adelaide's city centre. Check the program here.
WOMADelaide. 9th 12th March
Botanic Park - Adelaide
WOMADelaide is a festival of music, arts and dance that runs across four days in Botanic Park over the March long weekend. It's a family friendly celebration of the very best of the World of Music, Arts & Dance. Find more details here.

Environmental Autumn: Clean up Australia Day. Sunday 3rd March (FREE)
2pm. Woodcroft Town Centre Parking Area, Morphett Vale
Join the City of Onkaparinga and Adopt A Spot to help clean up a section of Morphett Vale Creek adjacent to Woodcroft Town Centre. Don't forget to wear a sun hat, old clothes and sturdy footwear. Meet in the car park behind Woodcroft Town Centre shops. Enter from Bains Rd (alongside the Woodcroft Community Centre) or Farnsworth Drive. Get the details here.
Library in the Park. Friday 8 March (FREE)
10am 12 noon. Tusmore Park.
Pack a picnic and come and enjoy Library in the Park. Sit on your picnic rug and listen to Mem Fox reading her Bonnie and Ben books and Where is the Green Sheep. Afterwards you can purchase Mem's books from Shakespeare's Books. Meet and greet Aussie animals from Animals Anonymous and sing nursery rhymes with Tony from Cool 4 Kids. Kids can enjoy some face painting and get busy with craft to take home. There's also a kids Bubble Show with Mister Oopy. Details here.
Sanaa North: Street Art Fest. Sat 2nd March (FREE)

Ugandan street artist, Sparrow, is set to add a splash of colour to the Playford Palace fringe festivities. Sparrow uses graffiti to promote change and unity, while creating a beautiful space for the community at Elizabeth Rise. I added this event separately to the myriad of fringe activities throughout Adelaide because this is one for the ages folks. The force behind Uganda's first ever street art festival doing his thing here in Adelaide is not to be missed. Details here.
NSS Block Party. Saturday 16th March (FREE)
3pm. Northern Sound System, Elizabeth, SA
Get your mates together and join the Northern Sound System (NSS) crew for a New York style street party. Chill to the urban beats of local DJs as they spin the decks in the skate park and watch the pros showcase their skateboarding and street art tricks. The outdoor Block Party will be followed by a ticketed live hip-hop gig on the NSS floor to grab your tix or find out more visit northernsoundsystem.com.au
