Brisbane Powerhouse is a historic building right on the Brisbane River, next to New Farm Park, that is still powering on since it was built in the 1920s. In its early life, it was a powerhouse for the largest tram network in the southern hemisphere. You can read some of the history

On Saturday mornings you will find Jan Power's Markets between 6 am and 12 noon, with around 120 stalls in front of the old Powerhouse. But wait, there's more.
There is a Retail Precinct, and two restaurants with bars,
Bar Alto and Mary Mae's Bar and Kitchen, art and performance spaces and more. They hold over 1250 performances and events each year. To find out more check out the Powerhouse website
here.

There is parking nearby in New Farm Park and Lamington Street, but a good way not to worry about parking is to catch a City Cat to the New Farm terminal and it is only a short walk to the Powerhouse.
