Aside from the Fringe Festival, it seems like it's a bit quiet in Adelaide between the Tour Down Under in January and 'Mad March' as it's affectionately known in Adelaide.

Never fear, the what's happening in February list is here! Even better, most of these events are free entry and family friendly.

Fringe Festival 2019 – 15th Feb – 17th Mar


The Fringe Festival opening night party is on Friday the 15th February from 6pm to 11pm and is a free, family-friendly event. It includes the Adelaide Night Markets on North Terrace, plenty of performances and the switching-on of the fringe's newest light projection project, Yabarra - Gathering of Light. The live performances run from 6 pm - 10 pm. Fringe opening night is always a great family night out.

Opening night highlights at Karrawirra Parri/River Torrens include: Tindo Utpurndee (Sunset Ceremony) and Yabarra - Gathering of Light .

Street Art Explosion


Each year the Street Art Explosion program commissions Australia's best emerging and established artists to create large-scale murals across Adelaide's city and suburbs, contributing to Adelaide's international reputation as a vibrant and artistic city. Since 2016, Street Art Explosion has been responsible for the creation of 32 public murals across Adelaide – download the map here and see if you can find them all!

RCC Fringe - 15th Feb – 17th Mar


RCC (ex-Royal Croquet Club) takes over the University of Adelaide. Party people should check out Dusk Till Dawn on the maths lawns on Friday and Saturday nights during the Fringe. Free entry before 9pm.

Ambra Liqueurs Spritz Bar & Garden


It's all happening in Adelaide's western suburbs on the weekend of the 8th and the 9th of Feb. Check out this hip little party going on in Thebarton here !

Laneway Festival – 8th Feb


St. Jerome's Laneway Festival has always been about presenting leading new artists and essential artists to follow. This year's line-up includes Aussie acts Baker Boy and Cosmo's Midnight, alongside other acts from all over the world. Unique locations, interesting layouts and eclectic young crowds set Laneway Festival apart from the others. Laneway Festival Adelaide 2019 is again at Harts Mill, Port Adelaide.

Garden of Unearthly Delights


The garden takes over the parklands between Frome Road and North Terrace from 14th February to the 17th March. 'The Garden' as it's become known locally has been a bit of a parklands icon since its inception and incorporates food and show rides in amongst the multitude of Fringe Festival show venues dotted around the park. It's popular with families for its bustling carnival atmosphere and is open for families from 5pm to midnight. Longer hours apply for over 18's and on weekends and public holidays. Giant Ferris Wheel at Glenelg


Right on the foreshore in between Moseley Square and the jetty, this ferris wheel is huge! Take the family to watch the sunset and soak in the atmosphere of Australia's greatest beach! The Giant Ferris Wheel is open from 9.30am until 9:30pm every day until the 24th February. Tickets: $10

Chinese New Year Celebration


On Saturday 9th February Adelaide's Chinatown and the restaurant strip of Gouger Street come alive with celebrations to kick off the Chinese Lunar New Year. Check out the details here .

Glenelg Sunset Markets


Brought to you by the team behind Gilles at the Grounds, the Glenelg Sunset Markets features local makers and artists in a grassroots market atmosphere. Check the details here .

Moseley Beach Club


This lounge club on Glenelg Beach is designed along the lines of luxurious beach clubs in Europe and Asia. Come and enjoy fine food and drink on the sand amid the laidback summery atmosphere of Glenelg Beach.

Chilli Fest Willunga


An old Mclaren Vale favourite has grown into a new location and just keeps getting better! Come and celebrate all things chilli on the weekend of 9th and 10th Feb in Willunga. Get all you need to know here .

Superloop Adelaide 500


Australia's greatest carnival of motorsports rolls into town and takes over Victoria Park and surrounds from the 28th Feb to the 3rd March.

Twilight Markets at 88 O'Connell


Talented makers and local business join in the second North Adelaide twilight market on Sat Feb 09 2019 from 2pm.

East End Unleashed


Rundle Street and the laneways around it are closed off to create a vibrant plaza full of activities throughout the Fringe Festival from the 15 February to the 16th March. Read more here.

Ebenezer Place Night Markets

Part of East End Unleashed, and every Friday and Saturday night in February, head to Adelaide's best night market from 5:30pm until 10.30pm. Read more here .

Fork on the Road Food Truck Festival


One of Adelaide's original city food truck festivals. This years event will be held at Kings Reserve Torrensville on Saturday 9th Feb from 5pm to 10pm. Check out the vibes here .

Semaphore Heritage Walk


Join Brian Samuels on a walk through the streets of historic Semaphore. Meet at St Bede's Church car park for a 6:30 sharp start on the 20th February. Details and bookings here .

Cancer Council SA: Adelaide Central Relay For Life


Join the thousands of Aussies taking part in the Cancer Council's Relay For Life this year to help in the fight against cancers. The relay is great fun for everyone! You can still start or join a team in the Adelaide Central 2019 Relay on the 23rd and 24th Feb at Mile End Stadium.
