Do you want to watch something new?
I must admit I'm not a fan of the Olympics. I feel a little unpatriotic making that statement, but I think there are more interesting things to watch.
Here's my round-up of interesting television series to watch instead of the Olympics:
Vikings – Tales of the Viking warriors led by Ragnar Lothbrok (played by the gorgeous Australian Travis Fimmel) with his tough and ruthless band of warriors as they conquer neighbouring lands.
Girls – This one is about Lena Dunham as an aspiring writer and three of her friends trying to make it in New York as confused 20 somethings. Judd Apatow influences.
Game of Thrones – The most confusing and frustrating TV series because it has so many plot lines and characters. Reading the first book didn't help either. It's still fantastic viewing but make sure you watch the recaps.
House of Cards – It's an American political drama about the most ruthless characters on television with Frank Underwood and his wife.
Top of the Lake – Spooky and gritty mystery drama set in the New Zealand by Jane Campion. Second season in production.
Pretty Little Liars – This is loosely based on the novels by Sara Shepard. This one is a guilty pleasure about Spencer, Aria, Hannah and Emily post Alison's death. It's scary and silly all rolled into one and aimed at a younger crowd.
The Bridge – This Danish and Swedish crime drama is fantastic with unexpected twists and turns. There is an American spin-off and a British-French one.
Masters of Sex – Based on the work of William Masters and Virginia Johnson for their scientific research into human sexuality. The earlier episodes were better than the later ones.
If you have a dry sense of humour like myself, you might enjoy JP's thoughts on the Olympics.
