Discover the perfect riverside picnic spot, equipped with beautiful water views, undercover seating areas and a nearby marina café in the peaceful and secluded suburb of Como. Como is located in the Sutherland Shire, just forty minutes by train from the Sydney CBD.

Como Pleasure Ground was established in 1895 and has since become the ideal place to have a picnic or enjoy a relaxing, leisurely stroll. There are many facilities provided for your comfort and entertainment, including numerous barbecues, tables and seating areas, as well as a recently updated playground for the kids.

The historic site boasts an abundance of native Australian flora and fauna, as well as beautifully maintained gardens, while the surrounding deep-blue water of the Georges River serves as an idyllic backdrop to your lazy afternoon.

Venture down to the adjoining marina and you will find one of Sydney's best kept secrets – Como Marina Café, a popular destination amongst the locals. With mouth-watering treats on offer, as well as healthy alternatives, the menu is sure to please all.

If you fancy dining indoors, then there are other venues all located within metres of one another, such as a Thai restaurant (open day and night) and Como's historic and charming pub which was built in 1878. Local legend states that Como Pub was a favourite of Australian poet Henry Lawson who resided at the small town during the 1900s.

Every second Sunday of the month Como marina becomes home to its waterfront markets. There is also an antique and craft market held just up the road at Como Primary School where you're sure to pick up a few treasures.

If you are more of an athletic type then the Como Bridge walk is a must. Enjoy the breathtaking views and bush surroundings as you venture across to Oatley, a leafy suburb known for its village atmosphere.

So whether you're after one of Sydney's most perfect picnic spots, a tranquil dining experience, bargain hunting, or a great family day out – Como truly has it all.
