There are many events through the year that add a little stress to a parent's life. However, I would have to say that Halloween is one that just tops that list.

'Trick and Treating' contradicts all the advice I have instilled in my kids. For example, I urge them not to speak to strangers, and don't go knocking on neighbors' doors. 'Trick and Treating', however, breaks all those rules and I wonder what the ramifications would be if I allowed the kids to partake in this activity?

This year I decided to look for something where kids can enjoy the same activities as their friends, but they do not have to knock on strangers' doors asking them for lollies. And, I am sure that I am not the only worried parent in the world with this outlook!

Perth is offering a number of events for children where they can celebrate this very well marketed event. Parents can also feel a little at ease knowing that the setting and gifts are safe.

The Mezz:

The Mezz is hosting a Halloween Event where you can trick or treat the retailers. There will be spooky stories, costume competitions, and many more spooky events. The Mezz can be found on Scarborough Beach Road by the Mount Hawthorn Baptist Church.

A Spooky Ride:

While it is not held on the 31 October 2013, kids can experience dressing up and riding around the Yokine Park . This event will be held on 26 October 2013 and registration starts at 6pm with the ride starting at 7 pm. There will be spooky lanterns to light the way, and a complimentary sausage sizzle afterwards for all the big, and little monsters, out on the spooky night's ride!

Carnival Macabre 2013

The city of Perth will be hosting this event in Northbridge where you and the kids can enjoy Halloween. From movies to entertainment, this event has always topped the things to do during the Halloween Festival. You can download the catalogue of the event here, and don't forget to use the vouchers at the back to receive some goodies for you and the kids.

Treasure Hunt

Halloween has universally created a practice of going door to door to collect treats. And if you are not in favour of this why not create your own little Halloween Treasure Hunt. You can hide the lollies around the house and garden with little notes. Of course some notes will say "Trick" which can either be no lollies or children will need to perform a trick to be rewarded with a lolly, and others can say "Treat" in which case they found some lollies. I call that a perfect Halloween surprise.
