Elaine, Geelong - A dream comes true!
Elaine is a country town in Victoria, Australia, located on the Midland Highway between Geelong and Ballarat. In 2006, according to the census, Elaine and the surrounding area had a population of 677.
In this article I want to highlight some of the small businesses that are alive and well in Elaine. Elaine Cricket Club
is a member of the Ballarat Cricket Association (Victoria, Australia), fielding Seniors Division 5 and Juniors Under 14 sides. They also run a Milo Cricket program for Under 12 cricketers.

The Story of Elaine - the little down that did!
Elaine is a small country town with a hotel, a milk bar / service station, and a few small businesses. There used to be a primary school at Elaine, but that has since closed.
In 1862 the Geelong - Ballarat railway line came to Elaine, and a local railway station was opened. Today only grain and freight trains run through Elaine.
In March 1859 a Post Office opened and was named Mount Doran. It was renamed Elaine Post Office in 1872.
The town of Elaine had all but disappeared off the map when a government grant paid for the local recreation club to undergo a major rejuvenation.
