Just a 45 minute drive north of Newcastle, Anna Bay is a superb location for a family weekend adventure. It has all the small-town features you'll love, plus all the holiday fun you've come to expect. When Anna Bay was put to the test on a 30 degree Summer's day, it instantly became a family favourite.

The Anna Bay Tavern is a friendly, bustling environment with a sizeable alfresco dining area. The cheapest items on the lunch menu will set you back $10 and the food is great quality. The generous portion sizes make it great value for money, too. The friendly, approachable staff create a relaxed environment you will be pleased by.

Now that the family is fed and happy, cruise on down in the 4WD to Birubi Beach. To access the beach with your 4WD it will cost you $10 for a three day pass, which can be attained at any of the local service stations. Let your tyres down a little and experience the fun of a four wheel drive on off road sandy terrain! The council also permits dogs on the beach, provided that they are kept on a leash. Birubi Beach is yet another coastal gem for eastern Australia to boast.

When replacing the air in your tyres at the service station situated just as you come off the beach, don't forget to grab an ice cream. It will keep the kids happy while you wait out the inevitable queue of cars and ponder just how many of your own beaches you could make with the amount of sand inside the car.
