Melbourne is truly an amazing city, so I thought I'd write up a few places you can visit in Melbourne if you're in the city sometime.
The State Library of Victoria is one of the most enchanting libraries I have ever been inside. It's so huge, roomy and just something like no other. The kids will love having a tour of this great facility, or if you're alone, its a great place to relax, catch up on homework or reading, looking at newspapers, or anything really that you can do in a library. Its a very quiet place with friendly staff and free wifi. Address: 328 Swanston St Melbourne
Melbourne Aquarium is a beautiful aquarium filled with lots of amazing sea creatures, such as fish, sharks, stingrays, penguins and more. I loved going there and seeing the animals so up close. The displays are really set out nice and there is so much to see. There is a path you can take so you can see everything, my favourite is the long hallway with a tank of sharks that go from the walls to the roof, so you can see them swim on top of you.
Shrine of Remembrance is a lovely place to go with the family, friends, or even by yourself. The never ending flame is nice to watch, but also a sad place because of all the deaths. If you have never been, it is a nice place to check out and always remember to be respectful and quiet if there are others around, and explain to young children what the shrine means, so they don't just think it's a random building.
Address: Birdwood Ave Melbourne
Crown Casino is a fun place to go with when you're with company. Lots of shops (expensive ones) an arcade downstairs and an awesome food court, whats not to love about this cool venue? Kids will be entertained at Galactic Circus playing the arcade games, its a gaming arcade like no other. Address: Southbank, Melbourne.
ACMI in Federation Square is a great place to take the kids. Screen Worlds, a free permanent exhibition is downstairs, it will really intrigue the kids and adults as well. There's a gift shop, cafe, and always something fun happening.
Yarra River is a lovely river, looking over at from the bridge is just a stunning view. There are always mimes and street performers all along the street that the Yarra river runs along. The kids will love seeing the performers, make sure to give them a few dollars to pop into the performers baskets/hats as a way of saying "good job".
I hope you like these ideas and will take them into consideration the next time you're looking for something to do in the city.
