The game "Bossaball" was invented in Spain in 2004 by Belgian Filip Eyckmans. He was inspired by Brazilian samba music and beach volleyball, and wanted to create a sport that combined music, acrobatics, and team competition. The result was Bossaball.
The court is made up of three sections: the inflatable main court, two trampolines on each side, and a higher platform on one end where the "attacker" stands. The game is played with two teams of four to five players each. The aim is to hit the ball over the net and onto the opponent's side of the court without them being able to return it.
The game starts with a "samba referee" who dances and tosses the ball into the air. Players use their feet, heads, or any other part of their body to hit the ball, and the ball can be passed between teammates before being hit over the net.
Points are awarded to the team that wins a rally, and the first team to reach 25 points (with a minimum lead of two points) wins the game.
What makes bossaball unique is its emphasis on acrobatics and aerial moves. Players are encouraged to use the trampolines to jump higher and perform spectacular moves, such as flips and twists, while hitting the ball. The attacker, who stands on the platform, is also allowed to jump off and hit the ball mid-air.
Bossaball is a sport that requires a lot of skill, coordination, and teamwork. It's also a great way to stay active and have fun with friends. It's played in several countries around the world, including Spain, Brazil, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Singapore.
