What Comes After Love – TV Series Review


What comes after love? Apparently, love is not the end, but love is the beginning. So, what comes after love? Aoki Jungo (played by Kentaro Sakaguchi) and Choi Hong (played by Lee Se-yeong) were trying to find the answer to this question after they found their love.

The opening scene for this 6 episode South Korean drama is set in Tokyo in 2019. Choi Hong was young with many dreams but she didn’t know how to make her dreams come true. She had many plans but didn’t get to turn them into a reality. She wasn’t brave enough to pursue her dream as a musician or to get another job, so, she ended up flying to Japan for the sake of leaving a nest.

Fate made Choi Hong meet Aoki Jungo. Jungo, a Japanese literature student, helped Hong with all her luggage when she landed in Tokyo. Fate also made them meet again when they both tried to secure a job at a small restaurant. Their feelings grew and in the end, they decided to live together. But both of them were very bad at expressing themselves, and different cultures also made a lot of bumps in their love life. They were drifting apart and Choi decided to leave Jungo and go back to Seoul.

Five years later, Jungo becomes a successful writer and goes to Seoul to promote his latest novel called 'What Comes After Love.' Fate makes Choi an interpreter for Jungo during his visit to Seoul.

Once Jungo said that even if time passes, the season changes and they are in a whole new world, they will never be able to let each other go. But what happens if they can’t find out what comes after love?

What Comes After Love is a combination of good acting, amazing cinematography and a unique storyline than other romance South Korean dramas. What Comes After Love is a masterful exposition of the process of falling in love, loss, and heartbreak, and the blessing of love itself.
