Whether it is the comfort of sitting down to a family favourite to calm people's nerves or it is the actual benefits of the food, there is no denying the healing powers of food.

No one can deny the comfort and sense of belonging we feel when we have our traditional Sunday roast or Saturday night cook up. Food has wonderful power.

Even the practice of cooking can ease stress and provide great satisfaction. I have been cooking up a storm in my kitchen of late and I've focused on some great meals to comfort and soothe the soul.

Out came my recipe box of family favs I haven't used in years. Ever recipe transporting me back to a different time or a memory of a meal shared with family and friends.

I remember the Mulligatawny Soup packed with immune-boosting garlic, chilli and turmeric. I salivated on the thought of the Beetroot Relish I used on homemade burgers to sneak goodness into my growing kids. The iron-rich Pate served with homemade Fig Jam that I made for drinks with friends.

This week we've had Nduja Chicken, Meatballs, Mushroom Risotto, Pumpkin Soup, Greens Pie and many other family favs. No Coronavirus around these parts as I am sure I've used garlic in every meal!

What's cooking for your family and friends? What are your family's food traditions?
