Act-Belong-Commit Elevate Arts 'What a Tool' is a cross-community project presented by Mundaring Arts Centre in collaboration with local arts and cultural organisations to investigate and celebrate our unique relationships with tools - past, present and future. The project includes exhibitions, workshops and events across a number of locations in both Mundaring and Midland with a vast array of historical tools, heritage crafts, new inventions and performances to ignite a love for the creations we make to solve the task at hand.To celebrate the project, an Open Day is being held at Mundaring Hall and surrounding locations on Sunday 30 September to showcase the "tools of the trade" of local artists and businesses. The fun-filled day kicks off at 11am and features community group and business displays, forging and artisan demonstrations, interactive art activities and exhibitions.
The Mundaring Arts Centre is hosting the Instrumental: the distinct pleasures of tools, an exhibition featuring contemporary artists' responses to the tools we invent to alter, decipher and transform our world.Inside the Mundaring Hall is a diverse display of tools presented by the Fine Woodwork Association, Perth Wood School, Boffins Books, Mundaring Sharing, Small Hand Tools Preservation Society, Riding for the Disabled, Mundaring Library, Katharine Susannah Prichard Writer's Centre, Mundaring Chamber of Commerce, Mundaring and Hills Historical Society and the Shire of Mundaring.[IMAGE="http://www.weekendnotes.com/im/001/04/sarah-elson-studio-shot-by-eva-fernandezcrop.jpg" margin="5" link="http://www.weekendnotes.com/im/001/04/sarah-elson-studio-shot-by-eva-fernandezcrop1.jpg" width="662" caption="Artist Sarah Elson is running a cuttlebone casting wearable art
