Looking for a place to sit and eat for lunch along the Geelong waterfront?



On my way back from my short vacation on the Great Ocean Road, I found the perfect place to stop for lunch along the Geelong waterfront. We had a choice of either to sit inside or out but the weather was still a little chilly, so we sat inside the cosy café.

Their menu ranged from pizzas, pastas, risottos, souvlakis, burgers, kids menu, a variety of cold drinks, special main meals, salads and tapas. Their main meals were delicious.

I had a Malaysian style beef curry stew with rice, egg and cucumber with bits of chilli. It was quite nice and slow cooked. They also had a variety of seafood and steak dishes. The special thing I really liked about the cafe is that they served freshly squeezed juices and a good selection of alcoholic drinks, including imported beers, premium Australian beers, beers on tap, a variety of red and white wine, scotch, rum, whiskey and any alcoholic drink you can think of.

I guess this place must get really busy, especially over summer, judging by the number of people in the café. The outdoor area was full and inside the café there were only a couple of empty tables. The café restaurant can accommodate up to 350 people and is popular as a meeting place.

It has an outdoor area, a balcony and a large outdoor area with ocean views. They also had a pinball machine and a toy game. The service was fairly quick as we had our orders taken shortly after sitting.

Attractions on the Geelong waterfront include the Merry go around, the National Wool Museum, boat moorings, helicopter or sea plane rides, rides on jet boats, boat cruises and a ride on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. In the summer months they also have enclosed swimming pools with lifeguards on duty. Some of the upcoming events I found listed on wharfshed.com website under news and events includes Market day, Just Cars Geelong Revival, Carols by the Bay, New Years Eve, New Years Day and festival of sails.
