To celebrate the start of the whale season, South Australian Whale Centre presents the Whale Time Playtime Festival on Sunday 28 May 2017 at Warland Reserve in Victor Harbor. Only $5 for six hours of exciting activities and entertainment. You can buy the tickets either online or at the gate. It is sure to be a fun-filled day out for the family. Entry to the South Australian Whale Centre is included. Plus, you also get 2-for-1 tickets on the horse-drawn tram.
The stage will be buzzing with live performances throughout the festival. You can expect to see performances by Jessi Jasmine, Ronald McDonald & Friends, The Amazing Drumming Monkeys, The Tal-Kim-Jeri Dancers, SeaStar Rock and Mr Oopy.
There will also be rides, bouncing castles, face painting, rock climbing wall, craft workshops, model trains, native animals, roving circus performers and market stalls.
The official opening of the whale season is scheduled for 1pm. The festival starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.
Every year southern right whales travel from Antarctica's cold waters to the Encounter Bay Marine Park. These protected coastal waters are perfect for them to mate and give birth. The Whale Time Playtime Festival aims to raise awareness about this annual whale season particularly whale-watching, conservation and sustainability.
