Cannon Hill Anglican College (CHAC), a dynamic co-educational Christian learning community for Prep to Year 12, is presenting their FREE family-friendly Wetlands Festival on Sunday 27 May 2018.
This popular biennial event is a vibrant celebration of community, environment and sustainability of our wonderful Perrin Creek Wetlands.
Held from 9am, the CHAC campus (corner of Krupp and Junction Roads) will again come alive with a diverse range of stalls, food and amusement rides, along with informative stands and displays of sponsors, community and environmental groups. The talents of CHAC students will also be showcased through art exhibitions and musical, theatre and dance performances.
Come along bright and early and explore the beautiful college grounds on Perrin Creek, including 4.5 hectares of protected eucalyptus and Melaleuca Wetlands, one of the last remaining stands of melaleuca wetlands in Brisbane.
Against the backdrop of this beautiful natural setting, the Wetlands Festival will play host to a bustling Market precinct, selling homemade sweets, cakes and preserves, up-market and upcycled craft items and plants and seedlings. Recycled books, games, clothes, household items and toys will also be available.
Down in the Rides & Amusements precincts, you will discover plenty of fun activities, amusements and exciting rides suitable for children of all ages, including a Petting Zoo and of course, the Dunk Tank!
Along the school drive, sample a variety of mouth-watering festival food stalls and visit informative environmental displays, community and business stalls.
The online Silent Auction will be joined by the inaugural Festival Art Exhibition, a collaboration with the local community, aimed at showcasing the visual arts whilst also giving CHAC students an opportunity to exhibit their work with well recognised, professional artists.
Festival patrons can browse artworks by local artists and a huge range of wonderful goods donated by local businesses online, as well as in person.
Stage entertainment will showcase a selection of CHAC's musical ensembles and groups, as well as performances by community groups. Other festival highlights include a wearable art exhibition and busking entertainers.
The Wetlands Festival 2018 is proudly supported by 2Wards Driving, The Colmslie Hotel, Fernwood Carindale, Shingle Inn and Kara Cook (Councillor for Morningside Ward).
