Brisbane is officially the trendiest city in Australia. Am I biased? Probably. I live here and love it but I heard that statement on an American travel show and I agree unreservedly. People are coming to Brisbane by the proverbial truckload, to live and to visit for glitz and glamour outside their doors. It's a beautiful city with lots to see and do, really cool and of course, the climate is beautiful one day and perfect the next.

Brisbane is rapidly becoming one of Australia's most sought after cosmopolitan locales. The sprawling metropolis of shops and entertainment has got the young and hip crowd flocking to the city centre. It got even more trendy, upmarket and flash when the new and exciting Hotel W opened in the hustle and bustle of the "Brisbane Quarter" in George Street in the CBD.

So forget the hassle of airports, baggage retrieval, money exchange, passports and visas. You can now enjoy a Bali holiday here in Brisvegas, complete with cocktails and swaying palm trees. You can make a splash poolside at the WET Deck rooftop bar and soak up the sunshine on stylish sun lounges with river views and drinks. Enjoy champagne, live DJs and an authentic Aussie barbie.

From 12 November to 20 December, W Brisbane will literally serve up a taste of our favourite island neighbour, Bali. Locals and interstate guests alike are invited to sip from a coconut while swinging in a hammock on the river-frontage rooftop pool.

"We have all experienced the challenges and disappointment brought on by the limitations on overseas travel because of the COVID-19 pandemic so Marriott International is bringing together the world's most exciting destinations," said Haldon Philp, General Manager of W Brisbane. "Millions of Australians flock to Bali each year for the sun, surf and relaxation and W Bali- Seminyak is the number one luxury lifestyle hotel in Bali. It's the ultimate pairing to bring the best of W Bali-Seminyak to W Brisbane as Queenslanders love Bali and are craving the feeling of relaxation and rejuvenation the island is known for. Brisbane locals can hit up WET Deck for cocktails and tunes, whilst interstate guests can visit for a full weekend of Bali vibes."

International travel is off the agenda for the foreseeable future but from Thursday to Sunday for six weeks W Brisbane will dish up summer holiday vibes by the bucket load. WET Deck will be transformed into a Balinese playground. Guests be transported to a riverside paradise while they drink cocktails as they relax in bean bags overlooking the Brisbane River. Palm trees, tropical greenery, lantern lighting and bright Balinese umbrellas will recreate iconic scenes from Bali beaches.

WET Deck will serve up Indonesian food such as Sumatran Beef Rendang and Kung Pao Chicken Noodle. The Instagram worthy cocktail menu will include the signature Flower Mojito, Pink Slushy and the famous coconut cart. It wouldn't be a Bali without Bintang beer and floating trays for guests to have fun in the pool while sipping cocktails and enjoying delicious bites.

Here are some of the highlights:
  • Morning yoga on the WET Deck Terrace.
  • Pop-up sarong stall from Robe.
  • A series of amplified events.
  • Streamed DJ set by W Bali's Music Curator, Damien Saint and W Brisbane's Music Curator Kane Dignum.
  • Balinese AWAY Spa treatment.

  • For the ultimate weekend "staycation", 'It's A Bali Vibe' will be a luxe accommodation package with parking, bespoke welcome Balinese 'offering', credit to enjoy at WET Deck's Bali playground and 2.00 pm late check-out. Guests who stay and play at W Brisbane will be automatically entered into the draw to win return flights for two to Bali with a five-night stay at W Bali-Seminyak in an ocean-facing Escape Room, including breakfast for two, for when the international borders reopen.
