Stylists aren't just for celebrities
Calling all fashionistas! Whether you're looking at updating your wardrobe, are on the hunt for a specific outfit for an upcoming special occasion, want to learn more about fashion and styling or are struggling to find what clothes suit your body type, Westfield Marion's Stylists are here to help.

I spent the afternoon with stylist Danielle Symes who hosted an educational tour that left me with more fashion knowledge than I expected. Danielle sat down with two female clients at the Style Lounge to find out more about what motivated them to book a styling session. This down to earth approach immediately created a relaxed and comfortable environment which allowed the ladies to talk about what style of clothing they feel most comfortable wearing and what they're wanting out of the tour. Like many women, we tend to pick at minuscule imperfections that make us our very own worst self-critics. Danielle says that working with your body shape can help in terms of styling. Whether you're an hour glass figure, pear shape, petite or tall and slim, there's always something to wear and a way to make it look amazing.

With a little insight and background into the ladies' fashion needs, Danielle was motivated to solve their wardrobe woes. She took us to some of Westfield Marion's hottest stores which individually offered alternative takes on styling. Sussan has been one of Australia's leading women's retailers from since I can remember and I now understand why. With their simple yet elegant pieces, Sussan offers clothing for women of all ages and combines quality fabrics and classic designs to ensure a great fit for any body shape. Danielle recommends a simple staple tee or singlet that can be mixed with a colour or patterned lightweight scarf or a striking hanging pendant to create a pop against any outfit. With Adelaide's upcoming seasonal change, these small styling tips can help when incorporating future trends.

Moving on, we visited Jacqui E, which has been known to stock classy and elegant clothing for a more dressier look. We learn't a lot about layering timeless pieces for those cooler days and dressing them down in warmer weather. Trench coats, outerwear and crop tailored pants are some of Jacqui E's signature looks. Danielle encourages clients to experiment with clothing to ensure they feel and look their best by trying something new. Adding things like a belt to an old outfit can make it look new again, replacing flats with a small heel can add height as well as inner confidence and rolling your sleeves to show your wrists can change an outfit entirely, in a good way. With so many fashion trends tailored to younger age groups, it's quite easy to get a little stuck and overwhelmed when shopping, which can impact a woman's self-esteem. Danielle says that a common misconception among women is sizing, thinking we are 'bigger' than we actually are. Don't be scared of your curves ladies!

Our last two stops were Portmans and Forever New, which provide a variety of occasion pieces to choose from such as work wear, evening attire or dressy in season pieces. Here we discovered more about colour, mixing and matching pattern and that clashing is not necessarily a bad thing. Portmans is focused towards the metropolitan city chick, with lots of blazers, shirts, fitted pants and modern dresses. Forever New is a fashionista's haven, so I would definitely recommend shopping here.

Westfield Marion's Style Tours are led by experienced fashion stylists who go above and beyond to help their clients in a very personal and relaxed styling session. Danielle Symes has been working as a stylist at Marion for a few years now but overall has been in the fashion industry for 10 years. Her obvious and extensive fashion knowledge shines from the get go and it's amazing to see how far a passion for fashion can take you. Westfield Marion has three in-house stylists who specialise in varied niches, including senior stylist Lauren, Damien - an 'installation guru' and Danielle who also works predominately with photography and digital media. As you can see, Marion's stylists are equipped with their own set of skills to offer clients a diverse and individual perspective. If you want to go all out, you can also book a personal shopping session with either stylist.

Overall, Westfield Marion's Style Tours are a fantastic way to get back into the fashion scene by learning tips directly from fashionistas themselves in a comfortable and casual atmosphere. You will also receive a $20 Westfield Gift Card when you commence the tour to spend at any store, so bring along your girlfriends for two hours of fashion fun!
