Located just behind Hamra Centre Library on 1 Brooker Terrace, Hilton, Adelaide, this newly refurbished playground is a hit for West Torrens residents and more. Memorial Gardens Playground Adelaide was officially open on Thursday 20 December 2018 by Mayor Michael Coxon.
This playground is bigger and has more play equipment than the playground that was located here before. The ground is covered with bark-chips and some little shrubs were planted which are good for sensory play.
This playground uses a lot of natural colour and timber for the play equipment. Some play equipment is suitable for little children, such as the sand pit, water play, balance toy and swings. Other play equipment might be more suitable for bigger children, such as climbing frames and slippery slides. There is plenty of open space around this playground too, which is good for more imagination-based play.
Some undercover picnic areas and also some seating areas under the shady big trees will make this spot perfect for picnics. You can also use the free BBQ provided. There is no public toilet nearby but for sure you can use the toilet inside Hamra Library.
Please be mindful that some areas are not undercover and some play equipment might get hot under the Adelaide sun. But soon the newly planted small Jacaranda tree will grow and this playground will have plenty of shady areas for everyone to enjoy.
