A tale of two lovers from different sides
Opening on the 31st August, St Bede's College in association with Kilbreda College and Mentone Girls Grammar School present the melodramatic musical 'West Side Story'. Adapted from the classic Shakespeare tale of Romeo & Juliet, all are invited to attend the performance by the students of one of the most relevant and modern musicals created over 4 nights.

West Side Story, if you're not familiar with it follows the story of two lovers Maria & Tony who are separated by the gangs the Jets and the Sharks. Although set in the Upper West side of New York City in the 1950's era, this play is still relevant, enjoyable and very entertaining to watch. Most know how the tragic story of Romeo & Juliet goes, the feud of two families and love being what hopes to bring them back together. Unlike Romeo & Juliet, the musical revolves around street gangs and the violent matters that entail from this. For Tony & Maria, they hope to change the feud and not lose hope in a violent and prejudiced world.
