Event:
An all-day carnival for the whole family to enjoy

The popular West End State School Fiesta returns on Sunday 18th of June, 2017 with another jam-packed program of bustling market stalls, exciting fairground rides and attractions, a great live music line-up and vibrant cultural performances.

With more than 900 students attending West End State School (WESS), the annual Fiesta is an important social event which brings the families of WESS together in celebration of the cultural diversity of the school. Fiesta is an open, public event that is well supported by the business community of West End.

From 10am you can trawl through a hand-picked selection of stallholders, offering vintage clothing, pre-loved books, toys, homewares and old-school fete favourites such as homemade jams and cakes, handmade crafts and freshly brewed coffee.

You are sure to pick up a bargain or two while the kids explore colourful sideshow alley and meet new cuddly friends at the petting zoo. There will also be fairground rides, jumping castles and dedicated kids' art spaces to keep the little ones occupied throughout the day.

The many talents of the diverse West End community will also be showcased through the amazing main-stage line-up, including performances from Spirit Bunny, The Sunday Bests, Highway Robbery & The Lazy Ocean Glitters.

This year's Fiesta is expected to attract over 4000 eventgoers and transform the school oval into an all-day carnival. With Greek dancing and Vietnamese spring rolls handmade by parents to local bands and performances, there is something for everyone!

WESS is an independent public school with a diverse student population of over 900 students representing 48 nationalities. As a rapidly growing inner-city school, the WESS P&C relies on the money raised to fund infrastructure improvements, technology upgrades and low tech necessities like home readers to name but a few. The Fiesta provides WESS with the opportunity to showcase their school values, which consider active citizenship, community, diversity and difference as integral to the educational experience of students.

Entry is FREE and all are welcome to attend the West End State School Fiesta on Sunday 18th of June, 2017 from 10am. For all the latest what's on, please RSVP on the official Facebook profile.

'We first experienced Fiesta before our young son was attending WESS. It was a great event and we got to socialise with old friends we hadn't seen in ages. Our son loved it it made the choice of attending WESS so much easier.' Mark Woodley (resident Highgate Hill WESS parent)

'An awesome day bringing families together and the best rice paper rolls in Brisbane hands down.' Ali Lawrence (resident West End WESS parent)

"Our family always looks forward to the WESS Fiesta. It's a fantastic day, not just for the school but for the whole of the local community. An enormous amount of time and effort goes into planning and staging this huge event that eclipses most school fetes. I think its size and success demonstrate the positive links between the community and WESS. We've recently moved to the Sunshine Coast but will still come down to attend. It's that good." Collene Etheridge (resident Gympie Former WESS parent)
