Solstice is celebrated by many cultures throughout the World both for a Winter and Summer Solstice. So, what is it? The solstice occurs when the Sun appears to reach its northerly or southerly excursion around the dates of June 21 (shortest daylight hours) and December 21 (longest daylight hours) each year.
This year on Friday 16 June 2023, West End in Brisbane is celebrating with their
West End Inaugural Solstice Market and will be bringing you bonfires, music, local art, delicious food and great vibes. The event commences at 4.00pm and concludes at 10.00pm. To reserve a spot to attend, you will need to go to
Eventbrite.
There will be an incredible lineup of over one hundred and twenty market stallholders, each showcasing their unique items for purchase along with gourmet street eats, Stone and Wood pop-up bars, fire twirlers, roaming entertainers and two stages of live music. Wherever you are situated in
Davies Park , you will be entertained.
One thing to remember at this time of year is that you will need to rug up, bring a rug, stay close to the bonfires to stay warm or perhaps get up the dance to the music to gain more body heat. This is sure to be a fun-filled afternoon and evening where the whole family can enjoy under the stars and the magical atmosphere that the Winter Solstice brings.
This event will be held in Davies Park on the Corner of Montague Road and Jane Street
West End. Entry is free and free parking is also available.
