A Christmas wonderland
The West End Brewery Riverbank Christmas Light display is celebrating it's 55th Birthday this year. If you haven't been for a look at Christmas-time, then now is a great time and it's better late than never.
Kids will absolutely love watching some favourite displays such as Vulcan the blacksmith in the volcano, Moby Dick the Whale, the ferris wheel, the nativity scene and Father Christmas with his reindeer.
The display is open all day, every day. But, of course, the best time to visit is at night when the lights come on and the magic begins.
The crowds can be hectic during the week or so leading up to Christmas so plan ahead, especially with parking. There is limited free parking in a small carpark on Adam Street and there is free on-street parking on Manton Street. I'm not sure if parking is free at the Entertainment Centre, but it would be wise to check if there is an event on at the Centre before you head in.
If you don't want to drive, then catch the tram from the city! It's free and is a brilliant way to have a hassle free visit.
There are amusements and food and drink stalls available on site as well. A very popular selling item for the kids are glow sticks. They are a lot of fun and interesting to watch. Also there to entertain the kids is the merry-go-round and the laughing clowns.
Father Christmas will be there from 7.30 to 9.30 each night in the 7 days leading up to Christmas Day.
Nice article Paula, missed it last year but will be checking it out in a couple of weeks for sure. My kids keep begging me to take them!! I came across a website that lets you search for other houses with Christmas lights in Adelaide (not sure if you've seen it?), itshttp://christmaslightsearch.com.au/Adelaide/ , might be worth checking out for other suggestions! Merry Christmas ;)
