Christmas is a time that lends itself to more generosity, more smiles and all the good feelings the season entails. It's a great time to think of others in need and those less fortunate than ourselves. For the month of December 2016 from 12pm to 2pm Tuesdays and Fridays, you can take your kind donations to the Wesley Church at 148 Lonsdale street, Melbourne.
This 25th Wesley Mission CBD Donation Drop-Off, Food For Families appeal is such a cause worthy of our commitment to put a smile on someone's face during this festive season. Click here to read some or all of the 25 incredible inspiring stories (to celebrate the 25th year of this amazing appeal) of the people who have worked tirelessly to make the appeal a success over the years, along with the people for whom this appeal has been a lifesaver in tough times.
Your generous donations will go directly to local people doing it tough, making sure they have a meal on the table at Christmas and access to food all year along. Giving a little can change a lot and donations of household goods and non-perishable items are most appreciated.
Click here for a PDF list of suggested donations. Non-perishable items, household goods and baby essentials like nappies and so on to help single parents and young families doing it tough, are always welcome. Other items most needed would be vegemite; peanut butter; coffee; UHT milk; herbs and spices; pasta and pasta sauces; sweet biscuits; lunchbox snacks; household cleaning items and breakfast cereals.
If you find that you cannot make it to the donation drop-off centre, your monetary donations are always welcome. With over 52,000 people needing support in the past year alone that included lifeline callers, six thousand plus beds for individuals and families experiencing homelessness and more than 500 children in care with extended family or volunteer carers, much of the work has only been possible thanks to generous donations from the community. Reach out and lend a bit of dignity and hope to others in their time of need.
