Do you sometimes feel like you want to get away from it all? Just, take off and do something adventurous, fun, extravagant, and life changing? We all feel this way at times, but remember – there is no fun without the hard work. If life was all fun and games you wouldn't necessarily enjoy your weekends as much as you do now, I bet. Luckily, a weekend is plenty of time for adventures and new experiences with friends, family, or simply by your self, while exploring exciting places and testing your boundaries.

My partner, Geoff, and I were lucky enough to settle in Melbourne three months ago, having come all the way from western Canada. Apart from the top ten attractions (Great Ocean Road, Zoo, etc.), we have discovered so many wonderful places nearby, and would love to share this knowledge with others.

For instance, take the , how many of you know about this place? Many European and Canadian rock-climbers in Melbourne complain about how far away the Grampians are. Well, guess what – the Werribee Gorge is a local climber's dream, a jewel, located about an hour away from the city. The gorge is situated near the town of Moorabool and it is filled with luscious landscape and vivid wildlife.

If climbing isn't really your thing (or you've come un-equipped), there are four awesome hikes of varying length and difficulty that will take you on a journey through this hidden gem. Alternatively, you can have a relaxing picnic with an incredible view, as this park provides two lovely picnic areas in such serene surroundings.

During our trip to the gorge last weekend, Geoff and I embarked on the three hour 'River Hike' (medium to hard difficulty level) and encountered our first koala bear, a platypus, multiple wallabies, and two massive kangaroos. We even used our climbing skills for a brief portion of this hike (which was well supported by metal ropes).

Overall, it was a wonderful weekend trip and, despite the overcast skies and slight drizzle, we came out with smiling faces and elevated heart beats. To all the adventurers out there, check-in at , whether you are after some wildlife sight seeing, a quiet picnic in a serene atmosphere, or some heart-thrilling exercise!

Stay tuned, as we are always exploring new and fun places, and are looking forward to sharing our experience! Your text goes here
