Wendy’s Secret Garden is a paradise
Wendy has created a vision of beauty within her secret garden. It gives pleasure to the people of Sydney and the visitors who come to our shores. It's lush and tropical with picturesque areas for the public to rest and enjoy the atmosphere of the park.

Brett Whiteley's widow Wendy started the garden in 1992 when her husband died. Creating this beautiful space helped heal her grief and create new life while she worked with nature.
It is open for picnics and makes a delightful setting. I was taking part in a writing course nearby when I discovered Wendy's garden.

When looking for Wendy's Secret Garden, first find the Kirribilli Club. The Kirribilli Club is situated at 11 Harbourview crescent Lavender Bay. It is a five-minute walk from Milsons Point Station. Once there, you will see Clark Park in front of you which has magnificent views of the harbour. If you walk into the park, you can then walk to Wendy"s Garden. There is also street access down some stairs. In the next picture, you see a man relaxing in a shady spot in the garden.

There is no official opening hours but it is recommended that you go in daylight hours. The lighting is poor and there are steps and paths which you may not see clearly after dark.

It is astounding how Wendy has transformed this site, which was once unused railway land. She cleared out all types of rubbish including everything from mattresses to bottles. Her efforts are to be commended as she did much of it herself. Later on, as her project took shape, Wendy hired some gardeners. Many volunteers have given their time as well, enjoying the fruits of their labour in such a tranquil environment.

A paradise has been created full of many different varieties of plants and trees. Birds fly in making nests in the trees, Also they enjoy the bird baths provided. You can hear all types of bird calls within Wendy's garden which adds a relaxing element. It is dog-friendly, and there are signs saying please keep your dog on a lead and clean up after them. Most people do their best to leave the garden as lovely as they found it.

If you do visit this lovely place, try taking a book to read. If you work nearby, go in your lunch break - you will go back to work refreshed. Don't forget your camera as it is a great location to take some shots of the Harbour.

I can honestly say this is one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. Well done Wendy- thank you for your effort, it will give pleasure for a long long time to many people. I will revisit it many times.
