On June 29, Queensland sultry Jazz singer Wendy Murray and friends will launch their new CD, Metamorphosis, at The Brisbane Jazz Club, so get on down to the club from 6:30p, for some smooth smokey jazz sounds from this classy quintet.

Wendy Murray is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and has travelled the world performing and seeking out new sounds in places such as Cuba, Italy, France, Germany, Ireland, Wales, London and Vanuatu. She is a member of the Brisbane-based Latin Jazz orchestra, Hot Mambo and is also stretching her musical ability by learning Japanese musical styles. All this between running vocal classes here in Queensland.

She will be joined on stage by the quintet of Pete Walters, Clint Allen, Paul Henderson and Trent Bryson Dean to launch her new CD, Metamorphosis. Also performing on the night will be special guest Amy Allen.

At this stage. I haven't heard anything from the new CD yet, but based on her past works expect smooth Jazz sounds with smokey and sultry vocals slide into your ears like silk satin. Though with an artist as eclectic as Wendy Murray, expect a few surprises. Here are sounds that both get you relaxed and not impose, but invite, no seduce you, to pay attention and listen.

About The Brisbane Jazz Club

Located on the banks of the Brisbane River, The Brisbane Jazz Club is the place to go for jazz in Brisbane, featuring a mix of local, national and international acts. Run as a community not-for-profit club with an all-volunteer organising committee, it employs staff only for events.

With a location with lovely views of the Brisbane skyline and a great, if perhaps a little expensive, dining menu, it is a nice place to enjoy a meal and listen to music. Though there are some places nearby for a cheap meal such as The Story Bridge Hotel.

Getting there

Parking in the area is not too bad with some parking on site and more at Captain Burke Park. There is also some parking in side streets. Public transport can be a great option, including the free Red CityHopper Ferry which stops at the Holman Street Ferry Terminal right next to the jazz club. Bus 234 can also be taken from the city and stops not too far away.
