Spring into Mindful Action
The warm spring weather is finally here and what better way to herald in the new season than with a spring cleaning of your home and your body. That's right - time to let the fresh air into your home and bring the fresh food into your mouth. Need some motivation to get started? Well, you're in luck. Every Saturday in September is a celebration of Wellness Month at Eumundi Markets. It is an opportunity for you to focus on healthy choices - foods, products, therapies, and exercise. Each week there will be free yoga classes, cooking demonstrations, workshops, and talks to empower you to make positive lifestyle choices.
Ever wanted to try yoga but couldn't find a class near you? Well starting on Saturday 5th September, now you can try a free class in the Yoga Hall from a range of yoga sessions including: Core Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, ZenThai, Yoga Flow, AcroYoga, Satyananda Style, Vinyassa Flow, and yoga for kids too. Yoga positions massage your internal organs and are very good for removing blockages from your meridians, which in turn helps with emotional release. Yoga also benefits you by increasing muscle strength, flexibility, posture, and conscious awareness. Remember to bring a mat, towel, and bottle of water. Who knew there were so many different types of yoga?
After working out and expanding your consciousness with yoga, take some time out at the Good Health Stage to expand your mind. Here you can gain some pearls of wisdom by listening to guest speakers talk about topics including tackling depression, astrology, detoxing, meditation, addiction recovery, honouring gratitude, food as medicine, and how to grow nutrient dense foods.
Put the knowledge you gained from expanding your mind into practice by visiting the Market Kitchen. Here you can watch cooking demonstrations about body cleansing raw foods, Ayurvedic cooking, the art of tea making, cheese making, fermenting, and cooking with tempeh. Most importantly, you don't have to be a health conscious foodie to incorporate some of the ingredients and methods of cooking you will learn about in the demonstrations.
Add plenty of fresh, organic produce to your diet.
If any of the above topics interests you, then check out the Wellness timetable and mark it in your diary. Also, as you wander through the markets, you will see the health and wellness stalls marked with a rainbow flag during September. If you purchase from these stalls, you are eligible to go into the draw to win a wellness hamper worth over $500. That would certainly put a spring in your step!
